If you love nature, Lio Piccolo is your place.
Our advice is to do it by bike if you want to explore it.
Lio Piccolo, Venetian lagoon
With our car and bikes we have reached Treporti. You can park your car near the cimitery along Via Saccagnana, and start your cycle tour from there.
Turn left into via Del Prà. You will be passing through a rural Court where you have the impression to enter at someone’s home, but the is the right way and afterwards you find the thin strip of land leading to Lio Piccolo.
In the distance you can see the belltowers of Burano e Torcello.
Cycling through this area is easy to do bird sightings all times: you can see the Black Winged Stilt or the little Egret. If you are going the right time of the year, you can see also the Pink Flamingos.
It doesn’t take long to arrive in Lio Piccolo. It is a very simple village. Some houses have been recently restored, such as the church dedicated to “Santa Maria della Neve”.
The area here is mosty living with agricolture, growing also the violet artichoke of Sant’Erasmo.
If you love nature you cannot miss the path (mor ethan 3 km) going along the lagoon (not asphalted).
Take attention cycling along it. You will love the views on the Venetian lagoon.
At the end you go back on the main road.
Going back to Treporti, we decided to take a deviation to Mesole. Here you will find a small village (borgo) and lot’s of artichoke crops.
